40 DAYS FOR LIFE STARTS IN 9 DAYS: SIGN UP TODAY!!!
40 Days starts in 9 days, and we’d like to go over 3 important things:
Sep 12
40 DAYS FOR LIFE “SOHL OF THE TREASURE COAST CHURCH CHALLENGE”
Below is the 40 Days for Life general information to be passed on, but I’m offering a Challenge to the members of SOHL. We have well over 10 Churches in the Treasure Coast, but 10 Churches is all we need to have prayerful witnesses at the abortion clinic from 9-5 Mon-Fri during 40 Days.
And all you need is 4 people from your church!!!
Here is how it works:
Each church needs a captain (can be but doesn’t have to be Respect Life Head).
Each church choose a time slot of only 4 hours, from either 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., and choose a week day Mon-Fri.
4 hour time slot can be broken down to two, 2 hour slots, i.e. 9:00-11:00 or 11:00-1:00.
2 people work each of the 2 hour slots.
Captain coordinates with participants and 40 Days coordinators.
If 10 churches do this, we’re covered (10 churches x 4 hours = 40 hours).
Actually, we only need 9 because Wed. from 1-4 p.m. is already covered (so please don’t pick that time).
Let’s make this a friendly competition (we are all friends).
I will list which Churches are involved with the challenge, as well as which Church has the most people from each Church signed up to be involved without coming to the abortion clinic (see below and flier). I’m betting on Holy Family Catholic, but I guess I’m biased.
Days and time slots we be given out on a 1st come-1st serve basis as soon as I send out this e-mail.
Afterall, isn’t this why SOHL was created, to coordinate pro-life activities because as a group working together, we are stronger than individuals working alone.
SAMPLE BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENT
For anyone who wants to hold a 40 Days sign up day at your church, I’ve included below a sample of what I put in our bulletin, and you can tailor make it for your church, your captain’s name, etc. If you want to get it in, you should act quickly, as many churches need a couple of weeks lead time.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE: TREASURE COAST COMING SOON
40 DAYS FOR LIFE COMING
The Fall Session for 40 Days for Life begins Wed., Sept 26. We are looking for people who want to promote it in their bulletin and coordinate sign up days at their church.
***Remember though, you won’t be able to get everyone to come to the abortion clinic, but you can get them to sign up to schedule a time of prayer at home or church or to fast for the intention of the end of abortion specifically at A Woman’s World in Ft. Pierce or to get involved in Community Awareness by circulating a petition against allowing an abortion clinic to be across the street from an elementary/middle school.
Below is an informational/sign up sheet for 40 Days, but if you are doing a sign up day at church, I would recommend using more of a general sign up sheet for each day at tables at the door. If you would like a general sheet and information on how to have a sign up day, please contact Jim Thoma at jimthoma@comcast.net.
BREAKING NEWS: “40 Days For Life: St. Lucie County” will now be expanded to be “40 Days For Life: Treasure Coast”. That means that all of you pro-lifers from Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties can participate also.
“40 DAYS FOR LIFE: TREASURE COAST”
A community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through: Prayer & fasting, Constant vigil and Community outreach-here in the Treasure Coast!
40 Days for Life is a peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their neighborhoods, friends and families. A desire to cooperate with God in carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion in America. The 40-day campaign tracks Biblical history, where God used 40-day periods to transform individuals, communities and the entire world. From Noah in the flood to Moses on the mountain to the disciples after Christ’s resurrection. It’s clear that God sees the transformative value of His people in meeting a 40-day challenge. 40 Days uses a 3-pronged effort.
*Prayer and fasting: Christ told us that some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. The two go hand in hand. Prayer keeps us rooted in the fact that it is our desire to carry out God’s will. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God’s help. Fasting is not a Christian diet; it is a form of physical prayer. You can fast from food, TV, alcohol … anything that separates you from God.
*Constant vigil: The most visible component of 40 Days for Life is a constant prayer vigil outside A Woman’s World Abortion Clinic-the Treasure Coast’s only committer of abortions! It is a peaceful, prayerful, safe witness to the clinic’s patients and staff, and to the entire community, that evil is in our midst and with God’s help, it will be defeated. We need people to sign up for a 2hour/week time slot.
*Community outreach: During 40 Days for Life, the pro-life message is proactively taken to the community through a focused, grassroots educational effort. This year, we are going to focusing on a petition to the City of Ft. Pierce that “An abortion clinic should not be allowed to do business across the street from a public elementary/middle school”. We will accomplish this mainly through the churches, home school and community groups. We will need captains from each church and organization to supervise the petition drive. We obtained 4,000 petitions against the School’s sex ed program and we can collect more for this cause.

I will be on the bus along with well-known pro-life blogger and speaker Jill Stanek. As you know, as a nurse in Illinois, Jill witnessed first-hand the practice of abandoning newborn children who survived an abortion to die alone in hospital closets and empty rooms. She spoke out against this – and exposed President Obama’s refusal to help end this horrific injustice.
We’ll also be joined by representatives of co-sponsoring organizations across Florida, includingFlorida Right to Life, Florida Family Policy Council, Florida Eagle Forum, and Concerned Women for America of Florida.
The goal of our bus tour is simple: Expose President Obama’s and Bill Nelson’s radical abortion agenda.
I hope you plan on joining us on the tour in Florida! Please forward this email to at least five or ten of your like-minded friends or family members and help us spread the message. We’ve got to defeat abortion advocates President Obama and Bill Nelson in November – unborn children are counting on us!
